Freshman Convocation Speakers

Speakers for 2009 Freshman Convocation

Brief welcoming remarks will be extended to students, families and other guests by the following:

Dr. Steven H. Tallant, President
Dr. Rex F. Gandy, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Thomas A. Fields, Interim Associate Vice President for Research & Graduate Studies
Mr. Kenneth Nelson, President, Student Senate

Each year, an individual is selected to deliver a brief keynote address to new A&M-Kingsville students at Freshman Convocation. This year's keynote address will be delivered by:

Dr. Terisa Remelius, Vice President for Student Affairs
Dr. Terisa Remelius became the Vice President for Student Affairs at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2007, bringing with her exceptional skills in many areas, including construction management, judicial affairs, law, housing and residence life and campus safety. She received her Ph.D. from Saint Louis University and has served as a faculty member at Saint Louis University and the University of South Dakota. She currently holds faculty status in the College of Education at TAMUK.
While having been a Javelina for only a short period of time, Dr. Remelius's impacts on student life and learning are impressive. She has initiated new programs and services for students supporting our campus goal of improving student retention and success. Most recently, our new University Village opened its doors to students only a week ago, in no small part due to her efforts and expertise in campus construction.
